Climate Infographic Break: Trajectories for a Climate-Smart Paradigm

Louis Wertz, EcoAgriculture Partners

When it comes to climate change planning, we must remember that people live in the places where climate change mitigation happens. And those people have an obvious interest in the resilience of their natural and agricultural systems and their ability to adapt to a new climate regime. The graphic below, based on the recent article by Harvey et al. (2013), illustrates how certain agricultural production systems address these issues, simultaneously maximizing mitigation and adaptation outcomes. The article calls for “transformative changes in current policies, institutional arrangements, and funding mechanisms,” to capitalize on these synergies.
